Situation
The Vancouver Canucks Aquilini Centre project is a reimagining of the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, Canada. With the hockey arena as an anchor, the project’s goal is to reinvent the surrounding urban area into a vibrant community destination that is walkable and welcoming for the entire city. Storyland Studios was asked to help bring this vision to life.
Solution
Our team started by creating a high-level master plan for the arena and its surrounding areas. We combined restaurants, residential, retail, and recreation with family activities, hospitality, and attractions to create a district that will entice and engage Vancouver residents and visitors to live “like every day is a home game.” The spiraling, multi-level structure envelopes the arena in five levels of activities that reflect Vancouver’s reputation for world-class outdoor recreation. Starting at the sea, land, and forest levels, then rising to the mountain and sky levels, guests will experience unique dining and adventures to fit every taste.
Transformation
The project will culminate in a district that seamlessly integrates the essence of Vancouver’s natural surroundings with vibrant urban life. Recreation will ensure the space is both a destination and a gathering place. Designed to foster engagement and connection, this district will serve as a dynamic extension of Vancouver’s cultural heartbeat. Through its extraordinary offerings for residents and visitors alike, Aquilini Centre is positioned to become an iconic Vancouver destination.
